On March 14, the Party Branch of China Association for Medical Devices Industry (CAMDI) organized a meeting to communicate and study the important speeches delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping during the Two Sessions (i.e., the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference) and the spirit of the Two Sessions and to discuss and work out the deployment and implementation measures. The meeting was chaired by Yang Xiaofang, Party Branch Secretary of CAMDI, and attended by Secretary General Xu Shan, Su Wenna, Duan Pengfei and Hu Huihui.
The Two Sessions were important sessions held on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, a pivotal year to achieve the objectives of the 14th Five-Year Plan. During the Two Sessions, General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered a series of important speeches with important elaborations on developing new quality productive forces, deepening reform in an all-round way, promoting scientific and technological innovations and strengthening ecological protection, which play a strong motivating, leading, inspiring and guiding role. The important speeches made by General Secretary Xi Jinping should be studied and implemented in close relation with the important instructions made by General Secretary Xi Jinping on drug supervision, ensuring that they can be studied and implemented in a systematic manner to firmly support “Two Establishments” (i.e., establishing Comrade Xi Jinping's core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and establishing the guiding role of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era) and “Two Upholds” (i.e., upholding General Secretary Xi Jinping’s core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and upholding the Central Committee’s authority and its centralized, unified leadership) in a practical way.
It was pointed out on the meeting that the government work report made a series of deployments for exercising prudential drug safety supervision, accelerating the development of innovative medicine, bio-manufacturing and life sciences, and promoting the synergetic development of medical insurance, medical care and pharmaceutical fields, which fully reflect the great importance that the CPC Central Committee and the State Council attach to drug supervision and pharmaceutical innovation.
During the meeting, members of the Party Group carefully studied the concept of “New Quality Productive Forces”: With innovation playing a leading role, new quality productive forces mean advanced productivity that is freed from traditional economic growth models and productivity development paths. It features high technology, high efficiency and high quality, and comes in line with the new development philosophy. New quality productive forces provided new opportunities and directions for the development of medical device industry. With the continuous technological innovations and industry upgrade, the strengthened role of market entities, the pursuit of high-quality development and the active international cooperation, more sustainable and high-quality development in medical device industry can be achieved to better serve the public health.
