New Approaches to Sports and Health! The HUAWEI Contest of 4th China Medical Devices Design & Entrepreneurship Competition 2021 and the Final of HUAWEI Sports and Health Contest of Songshan Lake Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition Held Successfully
“O friend, bear well in mind, the year’s best sights are seen, When oranges their golden yellow mix with green.” The HUAWEI Contest of 4th China Medical Devices Design & Entrepreneurship Competition 2021 and the Final of HUAWEI Sports and Health Contest of Songshan Lake Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition (“Event”) was held successfully on December 11 in the charming Songshan Lake Hi-Tech Industry Development Zone (“SSL”). The Event focused on the area of sports and health, including the sports and health innovative product hardware, software and application experience and personal and family health protection.
The Event was hosted by the Songshan Lake Hi-Tech Industry Development Zone Administrative Committee and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., undertaken by the Science, Technology and Education Bureau of Songshan Lake Hi-Tech Industry Development Zone Administrative Committee, Huawei Device Co., Ltd., and China Strategic Alliance of Medical Device Innovation, organized by Guangzhou Dr. Information Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd. and Innovation Services Committee of China Association for Medical Devices Industry, and co-hosted by Linrun Intelligent Valley and Innomd.org.
The China Medical Devices Design & Entrepreneurship Competition (“Competition”) has been successfully held for three consecutive sessions under the guidance of the Department of Science and Technology for Social Development of the Ministry of Science and Technology and China National Center for Biotechnology Development, with the first three sessions collecting more than 1,500 medical device innovation projects from home and abroad and the fourth session collecting a total of 831 excellent projects from home and abroad by June 20. The Competition has become the most authoritative and influential professional event in China’s medical device industry, which boasts the strongest jury and the highest-quality competing projects. As one of the contests of the 4th China Medical Devices Design & Entrepreneurship Competition, the HUAWEI Contest has been held for two consecutive sessions in the SSL that regards the medical device area as a strategic development direction for forward-looking layout and key development.
At the beginning of the Event, Zhai Hao’an, Deputy Director of Science, Technology and Education Bureau of Songshan Lake Hi-Tech Industry Development Zone Administrative Committee, gave a speech. According to him, the HUAWEI Contest has been held for two consecutive sessions in the SSL and has become an important event in the SSL; biotechnology and biomedical engineering technology are strategic development directions for the forward-looking layout and key development of the SSL, and the SSL has been focusing on key areas such as new drug R&D, high-end medical devices, biotechnology, and new therapies for over a decade, to strive to gather the best resources, provide the most favorable policies, create the best environment, and promote rapid industry development; the SSL has formed advantages in medical devices including in vitro diagnostic reagents, implantation and intervention equipment, and imaging equipment.
Then, Li Changzhu, Vice President, Consumer Strategy Marketing Department, Huawei Consumer BG, gave a speech on the project services of the Event. According to him, health is what we focus on most in our lives today, and many people in the city who understand life have started to maintain their health; increasingly more sports & health and wellness products are being upgraded and innovated, Huawei has specially set up the HUAWEI Health Lab to contribute to the development of the health cause and serve people with technology, and Huawei will continue to protect people’s health with the power of technology. The HUAWEI Health Lab in the SSL, Dongguan has recently been open to the public for the first time, which has an area of nearly 5,000 square meters and is the largest sports and health science laboratory of Huawei in the world. The laboratory provides more than 80 professional testing capabilities and seen from its health monitoring, analysis technology, R&D platform capabilities, services, etc., it has achieved the integration of R&D and industrial incubation.
A total of 21 excellent projects were shortlisted from the fierce competition in the semifinals, which were graded by the judges from dimensions including technology and product innovation, business model, industry and market, team situation, and financial analysis and from which, one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes, and 15 excellent prizes were selected after project roadshows and expert selection.
