The first event of the Fourth (2021) China Medical Devices Design & Entrepreneurship Competition, the Minimally invasive Device Competition (Shaoxing) and "Zhende Cup" Medical Device Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, was held in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province on July 10.
The on-line registration for the Fourth (2021) China Medical Devices Design & Entrepreneurship Competition was initiated on March 5, 2021. As of June 20, a total of 831 projects have signed up for the Competition. The Minimally Invasive Device Competition (Shaoxing) held this time was organized by the Strategic Innovation Alliance of Medical Device Technology, the Office of the Leading Group for the Construction of Shaoxing Science Innovation Corridor, and the People's Government of Yuecheng District, Shaoxing, co-organized by Yuecheng District Science and Technology Bureau, Yuecheng District Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Suzhou Medical Device Service Center, the Medical Device Industry Innovation Service Complex of Yuecheng District, Shaoxing, and Zhende Medical Products Co., Ltd., and supported by China Association for Medical Devices Industry (CAMDI) and Medical Devices Innovation.
Opening Ceremony
Jiang Feng, Executive Vice-president of CAMDI and Director of China Strategic Alliance of Medical Device Technology Innovation, Wang Jigang, Deputy Secretary and Deputy Director of Leading Party Group of Shaoxing People's Congress Standing Committee and Deputy Leader of the Leading Group for the Construction of Shaoxing Science Innovation Corridor, and Sheng Zhuoyi, Deputy District Chief of Yuecheng District People's Government, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

The Medical Device Industry Innovation Service Complex of Yuecheng District, Shaoxing, was branded by Home Medical Device Branch, CAMDI, at the ceremony.
In recent years, based on China Torch Program, Shaoxing Health Equipment and New Medical Materials Characteristic Industrial Base, and the high-end biomedical “ten thousand mu, one hundred billion" new industry platform, and with medical devices as a breakthrough, Yuecheng District has held on to the idea of “innovation + service”, and has driven the integrated development of the industrial chain, innovation chain, service chain and supply chain of medical devices. An industrial pattern with four key fields, high-end medical dressings, high-performance medical imaging equipment, new biomedical materials and implant interventional medical devices, and with the common development of emerging fields, such as in vitro diagnosis, mobile medicine and rehabilitation aids, has been initially formed.
“Innovative technologies and projects from all over China gather here for a roadshow, which greatly expands the innovative source projects throughout Shaoxing.” According to Ding Fangwei, Head of Head of Medical Device Industry Innovation Service Complex of Yuecheng District, Shaoxing, next, various excellent projects will be introduced to further carry out innovation cooperation with national platforms, so as to establish a provincial leading medical device innovation system to promote the medical equipment industry in Shaoxing to become the first echelon in China.
Grand Occasions
The theme of the Minimally invasive Device Competition (Shaoxing) was “Gathering energy for transformation, driving innovation”. 20 excellent innovation projects of minimally invasive device category participated in the on-site roadshow and evaluation. Representatives of relevant enterprises, research institutes, investment and financing institutions and innovation service institutions were invited to witness the competition.

The judges scored from such dimensions as innovation, clinical value and social value, project progress, team and risk assessment, and finally selected 3 first prize projects, 5 second prize projects, 7 third prize projects and 5 excellence award projects. The first prize projects and second prize projects will advance to the final.
