Officially launched in 2015, the Project was facilitated and organized by the CFIE. With the joint efforts from historical research institutes, colleges and universities, industry associations, and enterprises from various industries, remarkable achievements have been made in the compilation of the Industrial History of China, where the first seven volumes were officially published in Beijing, and the rest is expected to be completed in a progressive fashion.

Gu Xiulian, General Consultant to the Compilation Committee of the Industrial History of China and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Tenth National People's Congress, commented that the year of 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and also the first year to kick off the "14th Five-Year Plan" and strive for the long-term goal of 2035. In the new journey of modernization, all industrial stakeholders in China need to gain strength from history by systematically studying the development path of China's industrialization and interpreting the law of industrial development. Publication of the first seven volumes of the Industrial History of China is of far-reaching significance.

Miao Wei, Deputy Director of the Economic Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and former Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, noted in his speech that the compilation of the Industrial History of China is a major event in the industrial community, a long cherished dream by several generations of all industrial stakeholders in China, and also the first industrial history book series since the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Standing from the present and looking forward to the future, Miao Wei put forward the following recommendations on how to promote the high-quality development of manufacturing industry and build a manufacturing power: First, further seek unified ideological understanding about the high-quality development of manufacturing industry. Second, accelerate the improvement of the system and mechanism conducive to the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry. Third, promote the deep integration and fusion of innovation chain, industry chain and supply chain. Fourth, speed up building a talent pool to support the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.

Wang Jiangping, member of the Party Leading Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), noted that the Industrial History of China book series, as the first major work to systematically explore the development process and achievement of China's industry since the founding of new China, is expected to fill in a major gap in the research of China's industrial history, and provide an important reference for us to study industrial history and draw strength from it. It is required to enhance both hard power and soft power in order to build a robust manufacturing country. Recently, eight ministries and commissions including the MIIT jointly issued the Implementation Plan for Promoting the Development of Industrial Culture (2021-2025), which is focusing on improving the system of industrial culture development, enriching the cultural connotation of "Made in China", carrying forward China's industrial spirit, promoting the integrated development of culture and industry, and continuously enhancing the soft power and influence of industry. In this context, the compilation and publication of the Industrial History of China provides a new path-forward for the construction of industrial culture.

China Association for Medical Devices Industry (CAMDI) was invited and assigned to participate in the related compilation work for the medical device chapter of the pharmaceutical industry volume. It took the CAMDI five years to collect historical date of 250,000 words and successfully complete the assignment.
