On May 9, 2020, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) convenes a video conference to promote the innovative development of high-end medical equipment. Xin Guobin, the member of Leading Party Group of MIIT and vice minister of MIIT attended the conference and delivered a keynote speech.

Mr. Xin emphasized that, firstly, we should reinforce our sense of responsibility and mission, step up efforts to enhance the weak links in high-end medical equipment, and provide a strong guarantee for people’s health and safety. Secondly, we should make innovations in institutional mechanisms and organizational models. We should establish an open competition mechanism to select the best candidates, deepen opening up and cooperation, and promote closer integration of equipment development and clinical application. Thirdly, we should strengthen industrial cooperation. We should make a systematical plan and apply new technologies such as AI and 5G to achieve continuous improvement of product quality, performance and intelligence. Fourthly, we should gather talents to consolidate the foundation for innovative development.

The participants included relevant responsible persons from the Department of Planning and Information of National Health Commission, the Bureau of Sci-Tech Innovation and Social Responsibility of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, the Department of Planning, the Department of Science and Technology, and the Department of Equipment Manufacturing Industry I under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and representatives from local industry and information authorities in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and other places, China Association of Medical Equipment, China-Japan Friendship Hospital, Instrumentation Technology and Economy Institute and related enterprises.
