Setting up a public welfare group to supply goggles to the front line as soon as possible
In order to ensure the supply of medical protective products, CAMDI created a "Anti-epidemic Supplies Group" on February 1. Shortly afterwards, under the call and support of CAMDI, Prof. Qiu Xuejun, Chairman of Visual and Auditory Health Industry Technology Branch and Alliance and President of Huiren Corning (Suzhou) Health Technology Co., Ltd., made an urgent discussion with relevant staff to set up an "emergency team for public service activities against the epidemic" in which Qiu Xuejun serves as the team leader, and Tang Bin, Secretary-General of the Branch and Alliance, and Liu Hongjun, a member of its Standing Committee and Deputy Director of National Inspection and Testing Center for Ophthalmic Optics Products, as assistant team leaders. In addition, he urgently created a "Goggles Group of Visual and Auditory Health Branch of CAMDI" on WeChat to call members relating to glasses and goggles and affiliated enterprises to join the group to provide support, actively supply qualified medical goggles products and try to alleviate the information imbalance between the goggles supply and demand and supplies shortage, so as to show their compassion and provide resources for the epidemic prevention.
Up to now, 5 goggles suppliers have joined the group to provide support, about 20 institutions and individuals have released information on the demand and procurement of goggles for donation, and at least 200,000 pairs of goggles have been supplied for the front-line epidemic prevention and control.
Building cooperatively a bigger information platform to help the implementation of government emergency policies
The Visual and Auditory Health Industry Technology Branch and Alliance played a positive role in the implementation of relevant government emergency policies. Especially with the support of CAMDI, the Branch and Alliance mobilized members and experts to give full play to their abilities and technical expertise in goggles production and visual health protection knowledge and actively support the "Information Platform of Goggles Supply and Demand Resources". The platform was initiated and established by the 3D Industry Association (Zhongguancun Glass-free 3D Information Industry Association) and Professional Committee on Individual Protection of China Occupational Safety and Health Association to support the management needs and initiative requirements of Medical Supplies Support Group under Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council concerning goggles anti-epidemic supplies. The platform mainly provides the connection in supply of major emergency anti-epidemic supplies goggles, accelerates the communication between the two connected parties and guarantees the immediate response in connection service, as well as disseminates knowledge on goggles and visual health protection. Huiren Corning (Suzhou) Health Technology Co., Ltd., chair institution of the Branch and Alliance, also together with 3D Industry Association provides funds and technical support and maintenance of the platform.
According to preliminary statistics, about 30 goggles suppliers currently have joined the platform and supply-demand material purchase orders of about 500,000 pairs of goggles have been completed, alleviating the supply-demand shortage of goggles in some regions in China. Data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology showed that domestic manufacturers has delivered a cumulative total of 233,000 goggles to Hubei as of February 4; they has delivered a cumulative total of 358,400 medical isolation masks and isolation eye shields to Hubei as of February 12. These data reflect that China Association for Medical Devices Industry (CAMDI) represented by Visual and Auditory Health Industry Technology Branch and Alliance has made unremitting efforts to fight against the epidemic.
Participating in the research on standard development and revision to ensure the quality, safety and reliability of medical goggles
After the study and analysis of existing international and domestic standards, the Visual and Auditory Health Industry Technology Branch and Alliance found that there were defects in related contents, for example, scenes and grading application were not considered, which is not conducive to scientific management and efficient application of emergency anti-epidemic supplies, especially goggles or eye and face protective products.
For this reason, with the support of CAMDI, the Visual and Auditory Health Industry Technology Branch and Alliance gave full play to technical expertise of members and experts, and cooperated with 3D Industry Association and Professional Committee on Individual Protection of China Occupational Safety and Health Association to actively conduct research on the development and revision of group, industry and national standards of goggles for emergency epidemic prevention.
In order to ensure the quality, safety and reliability of emergency protective supplies and alleviate supply-demand imbalance by making full use of limited resources and scientifically guiding the rational application of protective glasses products by scene and grade, in accordance with relevant working mechanism requirements in Management Regulations of Group Standards developed by Standardization Administration of China and Ministry of Civil Affairs, 3D Industry Association, together with the Visual and Auditory Health Technology Branch and the other party, led to initiate the development of the group standard, Protective Equipment of Eye Shields and Face Masks for Emergency Epidemic Prevention and delegate experts to participate in the development, and planned to file an application to State Administration for Market Regulation and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for the project approval. As a result, a unified, standardized, efficient and multi-level guiding and recommended technical standard will be provided for the epidemic prevention and control. Furthermore, the standard shall be updated and optimized, and even upgraded to industrial and national recommended standard where appropriate.
On this basis, with the support of National Inspection and Testing Center for Ophthalmic Optics Products and other standing director institutions of the Branch and Alliance, the three parties sorted out domestic and foreign standards for goggles or eye and face protective products, promoted the R&D and industrialization of a new generation of goggles for the epidemic prevention and control, established standards and test lines of defense to play an active role in the fight against the epidemic, and actively contributed to safeguarding life safety and physical health of front-line medical workers and the public.
Related work of the standard development and revision is currently advancing in an orderly manner. The Visual and Auditory Health Industry Technology Branch and Alliance strengthened research on the development and revision of group, industry and national standards for goggles to make due contributions to the epidemic prevention and fighting in China.
