On November 8, the Center for Medical Device Evaluation (CMDE) hosted the event titled “Open-to-Public Day 2019”, in a bid to better organize and carry out science popularization and propaganda of medical device safety, raise the public awareness of the evaluation of medical devices, strengthen public identification and confidence in the evaluation. This event serves as a part of the “National Safe Medication Month Activity” organized by National Medical Products Administration (NMPA).
Sun Lei, director of CMDE hosted the event and detailed the recent progress of CMDE in deepening the reform of review and approval system. Relevant personnel in the Department of Quality Control, Department of Project management and Review Department I of CMDE introduced the consultation service of CMDE to external institutions and quality control of review within CMDE, and briefed the current development of large domestic medical devices. Additionally, the enterprise representatives demonstrated the whole process of electronic submission for medical device registration. Through this event, the awareness, recognition and social participation of the public, enterprises and media to the work conducted by CMDE have been raised. Moreover, this event has propagated the idea of “science, fairness, innovation, integrity” to the outside world, further facilitating the standardization and efficiency of the review.

Related associations of medical devices industry, representatives of enterprises and related journalists attended this activity as well. The China Association for Medical Devices Industry (CAMDI) also delegated representatives to attend the meeting.
