From November 14 to 16, 2019, the investigation group, composed of Office of Raw Materials Industries of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the China Association for Medical Devices Industry (CAMDI), visited Shanghai together to inspect and investigate the production and use of raw materials in the medical devices industry.
During the period, the investigation group visited and inspected five institutions, including the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (SICCAS), the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (SIOM), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Shanghai United Imaging Medical Technology Co., Ltd., MicroPort Scientific Corporation and Intuitive Surgical-Fosun Medical Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. Face-to-face exchanges and conversations related to the development status of new materials for medical devices, raw materials required for production, source to procure the raw materials and the construction of platform were conducted between the investigation group and the enterprises. Next, CAMDI will work with the MIIT to carry out research on raw materials, collect information on sector demand, provide information communication channels, and implement national policies for encouraging development as soon as possible.
