Eulogize the Progress in the Past 70 Years and Offer Advice for China’s Future—2019 Symposium on “Voice and Responsibility” of NPC Representatives and CPPCC Members in Pharmaceutical Industry was Held in Beijing

At the time when the Second Session of the 13th National Peoples Congress of the Peoples Republic of China and the Second Session of the 13th CPPCC National Committee were held, the 2019 Symposium on “Voice and Responsibility” of NPC Representatives and CPPCC Members in Pharmaceutical Industry, co-sponsored by 25 associations from pharmaceutical industry in China, was held on March 4 in Beijing. About 40 NPC representatives, CPPCC members and provincial NPC representatives in pharmaceutical industry attended this symposium, including over 20 NPC representatives and CPPCC members, and 20 NPC representatives at provincial and municipal level and CPPCC members in pharmaceutical industry. By offering suggestions, they have made great contribution to the sound development of pharmaceutical industry of China. Leaders and experts in such relevant functional departments as National Development and Reform Commission, National Health Commission, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Commerce, NMPA, National Healthcare Security Administration, National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, etc., were invited to be present at the symposium, and over 50 mainstream media reported this symposium.

According to incomplete statistics, the proposals related to pharmaceutical industry put forward by members of NPC and CPPCC in 2018 received over 260 replies from National Development and Reform Commission, National Health Commission, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, NMPA, National Healthcare Security Administration, National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, etc. The 3 proposals jointly submitted by numerous representatives were included. During the symposium, the representatives and members talked freely about the world-shaking changes attributable to reform and opening-up, eulogized the eye-catching progress in pharmaceutical industry since the founding of China in 1949, and exchanged experience in implementing "Healthy China 2030" blueprint. Furthermore, they put forward a great many of targeted suggestions to tackle the keystone and difficulty in National Catalogue of Auxiliary Drugs, procurement of insured drugs with target quantity, innovation of production process, monopoly of bulk pharmaceutical chemicals (BPC), continued deepening of innovation system of pharmaceutical industry, strengthened supervision of medical devices, promotion of traditional Chinese medicine and reform of pharmaceutical circulation industry and so on.

It has been the 10th year for China Association for Medical Devices Industry, as one of the 25 sponsors, to attend the symposium actively since 2009. Collecting and summarizing 21 suggestions from member enterprises, China Association for Medical Devices Industry, as a representative of its member enterprises from medical device industry, is ready to help render a positive development of medical device industry.
