Outstanding Payment in the Field Related to Medicine and Drugs: Industry Associations are Taking Actions

On December 12, 2018, China Pharmaceutical Industry Association (CPIA), together with another seven national industry associations on the production and circulation of drugs and medical devices, successfully held the “Symposium on the Measures for Outstanding Payment in the Field Related to Medicine and Drugs”. The seven associations are China Association for Medical Devices Industry (CAMDI), China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine (CATCM), China Association of Pharmaceutical Commerce (CAPC), China Nonprescription Medicines Association (CNMA), China Biochemical Pharmaceutical Industry Association (CBPIA), China Pharmaceutical Association of Plant Engineering (CPAPE) and China Pharmaceutical Enterprises Development Promote Association (CPEP). The participants conducted a thematic discussion on the outstanding payment in the field related to medicine and drugs, and agreed that the outstanding payment in hospitals had become a major problem affecting the business environment of the industry due to its wide range and serious damage. In response to debt paying off and the improvement of business environment initiated by our country and in order to accelerate the settlement of outstanding payments, those participant associations decided to give full play to the industry association supervision, self-discipline and coordination, mobilize their members to be involved and take actions for outstanding payment in the field related to medicine and drugs with the aid of the industry credit information sharing platform.

According to Pan Guangcheng, executive director of CPIA, innovation and compliance are the main melody in the development of the medical and health industry, and the improvement of the credit system is the driving force for the transformation and development of the industry based on the industry development at home and abroad. It is a long-term work to deal with the outstanding payment in the field related to medicine and drugs which is an organic part of the credit construction in the medical and health industry. Under the framework of the national credit system construction, we can continuously improve the business environment, promote the sound development of the industry and guarantee the safety and health of the people only by boosting the construction of the industry credit system and exploring the long-term mechanism of industry governance by means of incentive and punishment measures and credit repairing.
