It is reported that this is a key reform task initiated this year after the comprehensive reform of separation of clinic from pharmacy.
According to the latest report from Beijing Municipal Commission Health and Family Planning, 120 public hospitals of Class II and above participating in the joint procurement have selected and negotiated clinically required varieties. As of yesterday, the amount of completed orders on the procurement platform was CNY 130 million. The overall situation is stable and orderly. It is expected that the purchase prices of the six categories of medical consumables will drop by more than 15% on average.
The six categories of medical consumables mainly include intracardiac vascular stents, consumables for cardiac rhythm management, anti-adhesion and hemostasis, artificial joints and anastomats required for common diseases. For many years, the high cost of medical consumables has always burdened patients. In an operation, most of the expenses medical supplies are often the most of the expenses are spent on medical supplies. According to the 2016 data, the total sales of medical equipment products in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei accounted for 13% of the national market share. The implementation of joint procurement of medical consumables in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei will provide more cost space for regulating and adjusting the price of medical service projects, and will also help to further strengthen the coordination of health care in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

More than 800 public hospitals above Class II in the three cities can purchase online all varieties included in the procurement catalog at “the lowest Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei procurement price ever”. As newly procured consumables continue to enter clinical use, patients will gradually be benefited.
