Bi Jingquan Left Office and Jiao Hong Took the Post of CFDA Director State Market Regulatory Administration Was Established

The establishment of China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) and State Market Regulatory Administration (SMRA) was announced. Bi Jingquan, the original Director and Party Secretary of CFDA will serve as the Party Secretary of SMRA; Zhang Mao, the original Director of State Administration for Industry & Commerce (SAIC) will serve as the Director of SMRA; Jiao Hong, the original Deputy Director of CFDA will serve as the Director of CFDA; Li Li, the formerVice Governor of Jiangxi Province will serve as the Party Secretary of CFDA.

As reported, the cadre conference of SMRA was held in the Large Meeting Room, the 10th Floor, Building C, No. 8, East Sanlihe Road, Xicheng District, Beijing, China (the original address of SAIC) at 16:00 on March 21. The participants included the former members of leading groups in SAIC, AQSIQ (General Administration of Quality Supervision), CFDA and SIPO (State Intellectual Property Office), the senior leaders having resigned from the leadership since the 18th Communist Party of China National Congress, and the former cadres of leading roles in SAIC, AQSIQ, CFDA and SIPO.

The conference was moderated by Zhang Mao. Deng Shengming, the Deputy Head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, announced the establishment of SMRA and the list of members of the leading group, and Bi Jingquan and Zhang Mao made speeches in turn.

The responsibilities of SMRA will incorporate the responsibilities of SAIC, AQSIQ and CFDA, in addition to price supervision and inspection and law enforcement against monopoly of National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), centered law enforcement against proprietors’ monopoly of the Ministry of Commerce, and law enforcement against monopoly of the State Council.
