The Open Ceremony of the China-Denmark Food and Drug Regulatory Cooperation Center

On May 3, 2017, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen who is making an official visit to China witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the China Food and Drug Administration of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Environment and Food of the Kingdom of Denmark and the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Denmark on the Establishment of the China-Denmark Food and Drug Regulatory Cooperation Centre. 

On May 4, 2017, China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA), the Ministry of Environment and Food of the Kingdom of Denmark and the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Denmark held the open ceremony of China-Denmark Food and Drug Regulatory Cooperation Centre at the new site of the National Institutes for Food and Drug Control (NIFDC). Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and Arken Imirbaki, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress attended the open ceremony and made speeches with eager expectation and good wishes, and visited the Institute for Chemical Drug Control of NIFDC. CFDA Minister Bi Jingquan, CFDA Vice Minister Guo Wenqi, Minister of Environment and Food of Denmark Esben Lunde Larsen, and the Acting Minister of the Ministry of Health of Denmark Karen Ellemann Kloch, unveiled the nameplate for China-Denmark Food and Drug Regulatory Cooperation Centre together and held round table talks. 


Round table talk
In the talk, Bi pointed out that the official launch of the China-Denmark Food and Drug Regulatory Cooperation Centre and the talk was a specific action to establish the comprehensive strategic partnership, a symbol of political mutual trust and people’s friendly relationship between China and Denmark, and an indicator of new phase and new start of the food and drug regulatory cooperation between China and Denmark. We should accommodate to the general trend of food and drug supply chain globalization, closely follow the food and pharmaceutical industry technological innovation and grasp the opportunity, work together to build the Cooperation Center a platform for food and drug regulatory technical exchange, information sharing, capacity improving and trade facilitating between the two countries. Denmark is a big food exporter and a powerful pharmaceutical nation. We should learn the good practice of Denmark in executing food and drug safety standard, implementing enterprise responsibility, enforcing product tracing and recall system, meat & dairy products regulation and drug marketing approval and laboratory inspection, so as to complete the food and drug regulatory system in China and to improve the food and drug safety guarantee level. 
Minister of Environment and Food of Denmark Esben Lunde Larsen and the Acting Minister of the Ministry of Health of Denmark Karen Ellemann Kloch spoke highly of the Chinese government’s high attention to the food and drug safety and the outcomes of drug evaluation and approval system reform and had much confidence in the role and prospect of the cooperation center. The responsible persons of cooperative project between China and Denmark communicated on the latest development and the next plan of the project.
