On September 11-13, 2016, the Seventh China International Medical Device Regulatory Forum was held in Chengdu.
Themed at “regulating clinical trials of medical devices and maintaining the authenticity and reliability of clinical data”, this forum invited domestic and foreign experts to make keynote speeches. Centered on supervision and industrial hotspots, the forum set over ten sub-forums including medical device innovative technique and product forum and post-marketed medical device regulatory forum. Person in charge of China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) interpreted Chinese policies and regulations and technical requirements, and domestic and foreign experts of medical device supervision and technical departments and industrial field had a communication in terms of medical device regulations, new products and new techniques of their own countries.
Jiao Hong, deputy director of CFDA attended the forum and made a speech. Jiao Hong pointed out that medical device safety concerned individual’s physical health and life safety and was of great importance to people’s livelihood and social development. CFDA will continue to focus on people’s health, speed up regulatory reform and innovation in medical devices and constantly improve safety control and assurance level of medical devices. She urged all sectors of the community to give positive support to medical device regulation so as to develop a good situation where all sectors join together to control medical device safety.
The forum was sponsored by China Center for Food and Drug International Exchange. During the past seven years, the forum has become a good platform for policy interpretation, hot-issue discussion and experience exchange and contributed to international exchange and cooperation in the medical device field and nationalization of medical device regulation in China.
China Association for Medical Devices Industry, one of the co-sponsors, attended this forum and Xu Shan, deputy secretary general of CAMDI made a speech of Industrial Services for Medical Device Innovative Development at the conference.
