On July 4, one of the international awards in design industry—Red Dot Award was officially unveiled. Red Dot Award, founded by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in1955, IDEA and IF are parallel international design awards. The Red Dot Award will attract thousands of works from dozens of countries.

The award setting of Red Dot Award is: Product Design, Communication Design and Design Concept Awards. The Product Award will be granted to mature marketable product, Communication Award to poster, advertisement, etc. and Concept Award to designer concept. Among these, the Product Award is of the greatest significance. The Red Dot Product Design Award is divided into three grades in descending sequence: “best of the best”, “Honourable Mention”, “Red dot”.

In 2015, in bioscience and medical fields, there were about 90 products won Product Design Award in the world, where only 3 won “best of the best”, 13 won “Honourable Mention”, the others were “Red dot”. This year (2016), according to the official website data of red dot, in bioscience and medical fields, there were 86 products won Product Design Award in the world, where only 2 won “best of the best”, 1 won “Honourable Mention”, the others were “Red dot”. Compared with the previous year, global medical scientific and technical corporations got significantly worse record.
